We are the Host Runtime team at eBay Cloud, responsible for managing the Linux OS, container, and virtual machine runtimes across x00,000 nodes within the eBay cloud infrastructure. Our mission is to develop a highly available and high-performance OS and runtime layer for eBay's Kubernetes-based cloud platform. We continuously strive to enhance hardware utilization and improve software development efficiency. Job responsibilities: Enhance Linux OS, network, and runtime metrics and alerts to proactively prevent any customer impact resulting from infrastructure layer errors. Troubleshoot and identify the root causes of Linux OS and runtime issues within the production cloud platform. Explore opportunities to leverage BPF (Berkeley Packet Filter) or AI technologies to accelerate diagnostics of system issues in the production environment. Job requirements: Strong programming skills, with proficiency in at least one of the following languages: C/C++, Go, or Python. Familiarity with fundamental operating system concepts and network stack principles, such as race conditions, memory management, and TCP/IP. Understanding of the Linux kernel is a plus. Excellent communication skills. Availability to work in the office three days per week, with a commitment to at least a six-month internship.
