The Position
Vital Strategies is seeking qualified candidates for internship with Environmental Health Data in Beijing. The intern is expected to spend approximately 16-24 hours each week contributing to programmatic and administrative efforts, with approximately one to two days a week out of the UNICEF Beijing office. The intern will report to the Environmental Health Program Director.
Responsibilities
Working closely with the Vital Strategies Environmental Health Division and UNICEF Beijing, the intern will help to guide the successful implementation the project through the following activities:
- Gathering and compiling environmental health data and information from relevant stakeholders in China with technical support from Vital Strategies
- Liaising with government officials (e.g. organizing meetings, facilitating project progress, etc.)
- Scoping (jointly with UNICEF) where the data might fit in terms of existing platforms/websites
- Translating and editing Chinese language documents pertaining to children’s environmental health
- Participating in calls with Vital Strategies and UNICEF to report back on project status
- Troubleshooting on the ground project impediments
- Preparing for stakeholder convening and planning sessions including the project kick-off meeting (Q1 2020) and the stakeholder engagement workshop (Q3 2020)
- Assisting Vital Strategies and UNICEF in developing a final report for the project
Required Qualification and Experience:
- Preferably pursuing a master’s degree in public health or environmental health science. (Students who are pursuing their masters or PhD are welcome to apply for this role as a paid internship)
- Prior working experience with government stakeholders and in a multi-national environment would be viewed favourbly
Language Proficiency:
An excellent command of the English Language (written and spoken) is required
