Intern for Media and Arts Lab
Position Overview:
Duke Kunshan University is seeking applications for an open position as media and arts Lab Assistant for the undergraduate media arts teaching lab. This is an intern position with significant opportunities for developing innovative methodologies for media and arts education. The Lab Assistant will initially play an important role in establishing lab protocols, maintaining an equipment cage to support media and arts workshop. The lab assistant will assist the Lab manager in the day-to-day operations of the media and Arts Cage, the media computer lab and overseeing other arts facilities. The Lab assistant is expected to collaborate with the relevant student workers and the IT department to fully support educational activities at DKU. The position offers great potential for career development within the university.
Essential Duties:
Maintain an inventory of media arts equipment including cameras, lights, audio equipment, etc.
Use FileMaker or similar software to lend and track equipment.
Advise students on the best types of equipment for their projects and help manager to train them in its proper use.
Maintain equipment and schedule repairs as needed ensuring minimum impact on the availability of equipment in the equipment cage.
Keep DKU Media Lab & Equipment Cage website up to date for current/potential students to better understand the program and keep up to date with policy changes, opportunities, student work, awards, etc.
Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Media and Arts or related field.
Great understanding of how the equipment for media and arts projects works.
Knowledge of media arts software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Final Cut Pro and/or other imaging and audio/video-editing software.
Hard working, fast learning, team building, efficient problem-solving and attention to details.
Good oral and written communication skills in English.
