What you’ll do:
Translate with impact: Adapt English-language stories, news, and content into Chinese (and occasionally vice versa) with precision, cultural sensitivity, and creativity. Go beyond literal translation to capture tone, nuance, and audience resonance.
Create engaging content: Draft original Chinese-language content including social media posts, feature stories, event highlights, and more — bringing NYU Shanghai’s people, programs, and community to life online.
Collaborate across campus: Coordinate with faculty, staff, and departments to ensure content accuracy, alignment, and authenticity.
Social media post layout design: Use WeChat editing tools such as Xiumi to format and present stories in a compelling, well-designed, and user-friendly way.
Stay ahead of trends: Monitor social media best practices across the higher education landscape in China and beyond. Bring fresh ideas and creative energy to our content pipeline.
Pitch in where needed: Support the communications team with ad hoc assignments that keep our messaging timely, effective, and meaningful.
Commitment and Application Requirements:
Availability: At least 3 days/week (8 hours/day) for 3+ months (in-person)
Submit at least 2 writing samples: A Chinese original piece (social media, marketing, or news-related preferred, no word limit); and an English-to-Chinese translation sample
