Job summary

Supervised and mentored by a senior scientist, this position will combine duties of literature survey and research support. The candidate will spend roughly equal amounts of time conducting literature survey, and conducting relevant experiments in the laboratory and reporting data & summary. The candidate will rely on his/her knowledge in theoretical and experimental aspects of inorganic or organic chemistry and product characterization to progress and complete research projects.

Summary of essential job functions

1. Conduct literature survey for research project assigned.
2. Suggest ideas to modify or develop products, based on literature survey conducted.
3. Conduct projects by planning and executing experiments in the laboratory. This includes analysis, conclusion, implementation plans, and communication of such.   
4. Possess a strong desire for continuous learning and fundamental understanding, while balancing that with an appreciation of real-world constraints when reducing theory to practice.
5. Conduct research and development activities following the scientific method and done in an efficient manner using sound, appropriately applied lean practices.

Minimum requirements

1.      Doctoral degree candidate (in 2nd or 3rd semester) in Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering plus previous lab/field experience.

2.      Speaks, reads, and writes English with fluency

3.      Living in Shanghai or Suzhou preferred.

Abilities required

§  Perform physical and chemical experiments and tests in a lab.

§  Perform statistical analysis of data and utilize experimental design methodology.

§  Written documentation in English of all results, conclusions and recommendations.

§  Operate a computer and common business software such as Microsoft Office.
