We are seeking a person who has an interest in empirical research to assist us in our PhD project examining labour, technological and environmental transformations in the logistic zones, free trade zones and port areas in Shanghai.
You will be accompanying the Project researcher for interviews, initiate initial conversations with potential interviewees, and help them by translating questions and responses for clarity between interviewer and interviewee.
Responsibilities
Accompanying the project researchers for physical or online interviews, as required.
Support the researchers by conducting interviews in Chinese.
Translate between English and Chinese during interviews and discussions to ensure accurate understanding.
Proofread translated texts (AI-generated) to ensure accuracy, fluency, and preservation of original meaning.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism throughout the process.
Requirements
Fluency in both Chinese and English (speaking and writing).
Ability to ride a shared-bicycle and willingness to travel around the Ports in Shanghai as well as Shanghai Free Trade Zones.
Willingness to commit 2 or 3 days a week for the above role.
Other Information
It is expected that the task will involve 40 interviews of approximately 1 hour.
