General Description

The Application Engineering department supports the Gemalto IOT customer base implementing Cinterion module based applications.

The Application Engineer

MAIN TASKS:

·        Understanding internal support processes, tools and equipments.

·        Supporting to answer customer questions on Gemalto modules, investigating of reported customer issues with a view to finding a solution to the problem.

·        Analyzing, measuring and evaluating of customer applications in the respective area of hardware and software scope.

·        Studying and investigating the new wireless module technology, providing demo or PoC solutions for customer related requirements.

·        Reporting on project status, forecasting the possible risks and providing the possible solution to avoid the risks.

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

·        Knowledge of current wireless network related standardization and trends (e.g. 3GPP, LTE, E-call…)

·        Understanding of technologies which are related to wireless module market (GPS / RF-Id / Linux / Micro controllers...)

·        Knowledge on 2G/3G cellular wireless network topology and communication technologies (GSM / GPRS / EGDE / UMTS / HSPA)

·        Technical capabilities in below areas is preferred

o    Hardware: circuit & schematics & PCB design, thermal considerations, DTC, DTV

o    Interfaces: RS232, USB, I2C, SPI, GPIO, SIM, power supply, RF/antenna basics…

o    Software: Voice call, SMS, GPRS, Java, Linux, Multiplexer, drivers, IT security…
