For the past six years, Novartis’ R&D center in China has engaged some of the brightest future talent in biomedical research around its much sought after summer internship program—the Novartis Young Explorer Program (Novartis-YEP).

This year is no exception.

If you are pondering a future career in drug R&D, passionate about big data or the role digital technology in general can play in accelerating drug discovery, or if you just want to spend an inspiring summer working with some of the top Novartis researchers and experts, apply the Novartis-YEP!

You will have the opportunity to embrace digital transformation and partake in the effort to reimagine medicine at China Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (CNIBR) in Shanghai, one of Novartis’ major R&D centers globally.

About the Novartis-YEP

This year’s Novartis-YEP is a six-week intensive learning program that enables you to explore Big Data and digital technology to potentially accelerate drug discovery, guided by Novartis leading scientists who have expertise in early research, clinical operations, and regulatory.

Participants will also get to complete an exciting assignment, in which you will be able to stretch your creativity and innovative thinking and win Novartis-YEP Awards. Outstanding students can extend their internship for up to 6 months in the research lab and areas as they select.

About CNIBR

CNIBR was established in Shanghai in 2006, as part of Novartis’ long-term commitment to China and the Chinese patients.

An innovation hub for Novartis in Asia, the Center is fully integrated with well-established scientific and clinical programs including: drug discovery research, translational medicine, translational clinical oncology, and drug development. The research programs are focused on cancers that are prevalent in China and Asia, including lung cancer, liver cancer, gastric cancer, and nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), and liver diseases, including liver fibrosis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).

Novartis Shanghai Campus is one of Novartis’ major R&D centers globally, along with those in Basel, Switzerland, and Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. The Campus has state-of-the-art labs and offers open, diverse space that aims to foster innovation, communication, and collaboration.

Enabling digital technology at CNIBR

In collaboration with its global counterparts, researchers at CNIBR explore and apply cutting-edge digital technology to R&D activities, such as machine learning, Big Data, Augmented Reality, while establishing new therapy platforms, for example, cell and gene therapies.

College and Master students with a major in Bioinformatics, Biology, Chemistry, Cheminformatics, Computational Science, Statistics, and Applied Math are preferred. 关于Novartis-YEP

自2013年成立以来，“诺华青年创想家”项目即将步入第七届。本届项目为期六周，期间年轻学子们不仅将有机会师从诺华科学家在大数据及数字化的生物医学领域进行密集的学习训练，并有机会和新药研发各个领域的科研人员交流（包括早期研究、临床运营和新药审批相关领域专家），获取广泛的科学学科知识，更将有机会参与科研创新任务，在激动人心的过程中发挥你的创造力，探索创新思维，并赢得Novartis-YEP奖金。表现的实习生可以在暑期实习结束时选择自已感兴趣的课题和实验室，申请延长实习。申请获批后，可以继续进行长达6个月的实习。
