Position Summary
The Intern, linguist will receive training in Appen’s methodology for linguistic project management. Interns apply their excellent knowledge of linguistic phenomena, technical skills and keen attention to detail to managing linguistic projects such as TTS (Text to speech), ASR (Automatic speech recognition) and other natural language processing tasks. The Intern learns to manage stakeholder relationships and will apply their exceptional communication skills to managing projects with teams of language specialists around the world.
Responsibilities
Ø Plan and manage quality, time, and budget to ensure effective project execution and delivery
Ø Onboard and train a virtual team of consultants to create, evaluate or annotate linguistic data in multiple languages
Ø Prepare guidelines, training materials and tools, aligned to client specifications
Ø Oversee the work of consultants, including task assignment, scheduling, and monitoring
Ø Ensure close and regular communication with all internal project stakeholders
Ø Document and manage language resources arising from projects
Qualifications and Experience
Ø Pursuing Bachelors degree in Linguistics
Ø Strong understanding of linguistic concepts and terminology
Ø Project or task experience in a language related field, such as linguistics, computational linguistics, or equivalent.
Ø Good problem-solving and analytical skills
Ø Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an environment characterized by constant change, and a fast, deadline-driven culture
Ø CET-6 or above. English communication skills are required. Second language in additional to English is a plus.
