The Role:
The Intern, Internal Audit will work with the Program Manager, Internal Audit in Gigafactory Shanghai based in Shanghai and as part of the global Internal Audit team of Tesla Motors, and contribute to the company’s overall corporate governance framework and risk management. This position will be mainly involved for utilizing a risk-based approach to plan, scope, and execute both short-term and complex audit projects within the construction environments. The construction audits will cover the project lifecycle from design through closeout, and involve a wide range of related activities such as procurement, contracting, safety, administration, compliance, contractor management, and cost/billings.
Responsibilities:
Assist and support structured audit activities
Perform front-end construction bid package, proposal, and contract reviews to verify whether the process owner comply with Tesla’s policies, standards and procedures
Assist carrying out a gap analysis identifying areas where Tesla’s policies, processes and procedures do not reflect best practice
Perform in-process and closeout construction cost and billings reviews, change order reviews, souring reviews
Assist complaint investigations and draft interview log in written format
Assist documentation collections for all audits, preparing formal management reports and presentations covering audit observations and corresponding recommendations on operational and control improvements, and facilitate management action plans
Coordinate implementation of management corrective action plans including coordinating interviews, gathering documentation, monitoring progress, confirming completion, and escalating issues as necessary
Liaising with Program Manager, Internal Audit, based in Shanghai, the Manager of Internal Audit, based in California, as well as other members of the Global Internal Audit team, and other key stakeholders (primarily regional heads of departments) across Asia.
The role will be based in Tesla Gigafactory in Lingang, Shanghai, China, with occasional commutes to Shanghai Taikoo Hui office and occasional trips to other offices of Tesla (mostly to the APAC).
The position demands strong interpersonal skills to be able to build solid and positive relationship with key stakeholders within Tesla.
Requirements:
Studying towards an Civil Engineering / Construction Management/ Accounting/Finance/Business/Statistics degree, preferably in the final year of Bachelor or toward a Master degree, graduates are also acceptable
Ability to work normal office hours (with flexibility allowed for studies), at least 4 workdays per week preferred
Basic knowledge of and skill in applying internal auditing principles and practices preferred
Work experience in audit, internal controls, accounting or finance preferred
Knowledge of management information systems preferred
Good skill in office software (Power Point, Excel)
Good academic results
Good time management skills, ability to multitask and coordinate work with a number of people including department heads and other senior members of staff
Proficiency in written and spoken English, CET 6/IELTS/TOEFL preferred
Exposure to an international/multicultural environment is advantageous (studying/working/volunteering abroad; living in an international environment; working/volunteering at an international company/organization)
